“Histórias do Rio Ave”

A composition in three parts dedicated to the city of Santo Tirso The city developed around the river ave and the monasteries have been a very important part of its history. In modern times the santo Tirso has developed a very rich cultural life and have hosted many guitar festivals and folk music festivals. My composition has three parts: I “Uma Terra Linda”, II “Uma Terra Santa” and III “Uma Terra Alegre”. A beautiful, spiritual and happy land. In these movements I wanted to capture aspects from Portuguese fado as well as the folklore music from the countryside. The second movement is freely based on Filipe de Magalhães' Commissa mea pavesco.
